Description
Marriott thinks that Bishop H's belief that Bishop Chase's proceedings might promote animosity between England and America is unreasonable. Transcript
It is curious that one of Bishop H’s objections to your proceedings was that animosities might be promoted between the two Countries. If you had attacked our Institutions as he has done, this would have been a more reasonable apprehension.
There is a surplus of perhaps £50 from the Printing Press subscription. This for T. Roland begs me to dispose of. I had intended it for Lord Gambier’s subscription towards purchasing the land adjourning to Mrs. Reed’s gift. Do you wish it for that in Knox County? I forget to say that poor Dr. Gaskin has lost the sight of one eye, and is unable to officiate. I wish your next may wake some special allusion to him. Perhaps you will write to him. He is as much as ever yours.
