Vicarage Halifax Mar. 1824
Right Revd & Dear Sir,
We have been much with you since you left us; but have not been able to hear anything, except that you were not at Huddersfield on Saturday last, which rather surprized us; as we understand you would stay there till Monday, when you were to visit Mr. Roberson at Healds Hall. I hope therefore that, after a good reception at Huddersfield, you have been prospering elsewhere. Mr. Roger Wilson, Vicar of Preston in Lancashire, has been staying a Night with us, & expressed a strong Desire to see you. I told him that, if he pleased, I would communicate this to you -- he wished I would -- I think you mentioned Lancaster -- a Clergyman of this Parish, whom I saw today informed me that he had heard from Lancaster, to which Place he had written, to prepare the way for you -- he desired me to acquaint you, that, in Reply he had been informed that Mr. Housman (an excellent Clergyman, Minister of St. Anne’s in that Town) wd exert himself among a few select friends, in Behalf of your Cause, & remit what he might get to London; but that he could not hold out any Encouragement for you to step out of your Way to visit that Place. I trust that GOD will point out the way for you in every instance. I hope to be able to remit this Week, from £70 to 80 from Hat. I have waited in Expectation that our Bradford Friends wd Probably remit thro’ me -- but I have heard Nothing, so that I can form no Judgement as to their Success. My Family Circle beg their respectful & [Hn.] Remembrances wth unfeigned Sincerity [&] so does
