My dear Laura
One word at parting from this my Native land for the first time.
I wish to bid an affectionate farewell in the highest & holiest sense to my dear loving poetic neice[sic], Laura.
Pray for me that I may have success & be restored in safety.
I sail in a few hours in the Asia. My direction for the present is
