Dear Sister Rachel
I avail myself of the first license moment since my severe illness (which occurred on the last day of May) to tell you how much I love you and how devoutly I pray we may meet in blessedness--Having just finished my the aid of my dear Grand Daughter Mary O the 3d No. of the 2d Vol of the Motto I feel relieved of a load of care to which my infirmities make me more & more unable to bear.
We are all well on the Hill
Sam’l & Phil’r and Mr Chamberlain & Dudley & the Rev Mr Morrison of Aurora and I hope many others have gone to the [Convention] of our Ch in Quincy via St. Louis Mo by water the only way of traveling this rainy season
My sickness prevented me from going. We use the prayer for the Holy Spirit to direct them in their [courses] and hope all things will be settled on the Rock of Ages.
The Bp of Toronto Canada does not say that the Church rests on this Rock, but nevertheless attributes Creative power and Agency to the Church alone
Alas. how sandy his foundation!!
Have you seen the Tractarian production
Ask Bp Hopkins how he likes it?
Your loving Brother
Philander
