My dear Grand Daughter Laura!
I had great pleasure in the receiving and reading of your good letter dated Plymouth May 9th. But my feelings were not of the most pleasant kind in perusing what you say about your health;
Your complaint of the difficulty in your lungs I think may be speedily remedies by taking “Dr Janes expectorate” It has cured several persons in this neighbourhood and has proved a great comfort to myself and Mrs Chase my wife and the school in general while suffering the severe colds of last winter.
If you have not as yet resorted to this remedy as yet for your complaint pray do so now. With this view I will write to your Uncle Dudley to buy the Medicine in Chicago and send you a bottle immediately.
Having many pressing cares & duties to be performed this day I will here bid you adieu! and pray for a blessing on you and all your dear Ones in Plymouth
Your affectionate Grand Father
Philan’r Chase
