New York 27 March 1850
Rt Rev & Sir
Having received instructions, from Messrs Hodgson & [Ryley] of Liverpool, to account to you for the Sum of
£42 Sterling, and to transmit to you [the] enclosed notes which will explain the [object] of the remittance, we beg to enquire in what form you wish to receive the equivalent, which at 8 Cent Exchange amounts to $240.
We can either send you a Certificate of Deposit for the Amount from one of the Banks here; or you may draw on us for the amount, [or] we can pay it over here to any person whom you may appoint to receive it & to give us a receipt on your behalf.
