Dear Sir

I wrote to my Bankers Messrs Stapleton of Richmond on saturday requesting them to instruct Messrs Barclay to place to your credit the sum of Dollars 182.. Cents 48 being the full amount of Bishop Chase’s acc’t without deducting your kind donation of one guinea which you will oblige me by remitting in an Order on the Northallerton Post Office, as soon as you have ascertained that the above sum has been placed to your acc’t.

There appears to be a mistake in the last acc’t forwarded by the Bishop-- It states that the first acc’t was Dollars 105--48 whereas I requested my Bankers to pay to his Order as you will see by the inclosed acc’t 115 Dollars being a difference of ten dollars. Can this difference have arisen from the fluctuation in Exchange

I am dear Sir

Yours faithfully

T. Holme

By a newspaper forwarded to me from Illinois I was sorry to find that the good Bishop had been overturned in a Coach by which accident two of his ribs were broken.
