Private
Pray press the business of the printing--especially of the Reminiscences. I have heard from the mouth of one of the students of the Alex’a Seminary the following words.
“They are trying at Gambier to get our Mr Sparrow, the president of Kenyon College”
Poor McIlvaine! What will become of him if this Viper once more nestles by his side!
If this be not a continuance in spreading this report in Alexandria to raise his name there (which I strongly suspect) surely theres is another plot to get rid of the Bishop now only a took of the resigning men in that unhappy place
Douglass has been turned away from his bed of wild thornes[sic], by our unseen hand. This he told me himself when I saw him in Brooklyn. And now the plot begins to thicken & the hand is still concealed!! When will the world cease to be duped by this arch ingrate!!
Now I say let the 7th Number come forth--for it is that alone which tear the veil from our blinded Chh.
Hasten the Pictures of Jubilee
Give my best respects to Mr Blace. Pray look into my acc with him. See & know where the former numbers have gone. Do this kindly but with firmness. Ever faithful P. Chase
