Dear Laura.

Your letter fo the 16th of April inclosing one to your Uncle Philander the 3’d was put into my hand as I came this day from Tremont. I am glad to hear you are all well.

I have little news to tell you about Jubilee. We progress but slowly with the finishing of the Cottage. In this building our dear Mary will open her school; and into it we ourselves propose to move and have the direction of the Domestic concerns and perhaps teach a little.

Something we must do for a living-- We have no salary nor income from any quarter. Even our farm here does not pay the expense of the labour and our Michigan Establishment is in expense to [you]. Still we hope in God-- Jehovah Jireh is yet our motto.

I officiated yesterday in Tremont. The Congregations both before and after noon were very large. I confirmed 3 and administered the Holy Communion to 15.

The number of Communicants here at Jubilee Chapel continues gradually to encrease[sic]. About 70 attend tho’ not all at a time.

My own health is better than when I wrote you last and that of the Rev. S. Chase appears also better. Since the first attack he has had no bleeding at the lungs. Sarah’s youngest Child I think the sweetest babe within our reach. “Fide” improves fast in her learning and Ruth begins to read. The other pupils of our Dear Mary are quite well advanced in the learning and manners, from what they were when they came.

I hope you will not forget to me[sic] mentions[sic] me kindly to yr Mother & Sister Mrs Flint-- and when you see other friends always consider yourself authorized to express to them my most affectionate regard.

Be more particular in your next[.] Tell me how my loved Brothers & Sisters are. And if you can tell me what they say. Remember we are all growing old and want each others encouragement to continue faithful till death

I pray God to bless you & others your excellent Pastor the Rev Mr. Sabine. Always yours P. Chase
