My dear Laura
Your Cousin Mary O. Chase of Steubenville writes to me that she fears from your sile[nce] you have forgotten her.
I have rep[lied] that I will make her grievance known to you that if guilty you may mend your ways in regard to that dear Relative of yours.
So this promise having been thus fulfilled I have a little room & less time to tell you that through divine mercy I am much better in health than I was. So much have I recovered that I think of setting off tomorrow with your Uncle Dudley on another tour to the South west. We shall be absent two or three sundays[sic] and then return to see to the many duties at home
My time is so limitted[sic] that I have room only to beg to be remembered to all who think of your aged grandfather
