Mr. Lyman,
Please have the goodness to call on Barnett Potter Esq. of Portland, now at his brother’s in Lebanon. And exchange the enclosed notes for a note a note [sic] of Six hundred dollars & interest, [elated] 24th of August 1804, signed by [Jack Dunkee] & myself to Solomon Chase, and forward the same to me by convenient and safe opportunity.
Please before inform me by print mail, if you have found Mr. Potter and transacted the business.
You can tell Mr. Potter that Solomon C. Cotton is good for treble the amount of the note signed by him.
Your Friend & Servant,
Dudley Chase
William Lyman Esq.
