Description
Detailed relief of the boar hunting scene, on the lateral wall of the larger iwan. The hunt involves Khosrow’s men on elephants flushing the boars out of the marsh. Hunting has been one of the most prized royal pursuits in Iranian history, with depictions of hunts being an omnipresent motif in all arts and media. The site may have been an earlier Parthian hunting ground.
Image Notes
Photograph created May 1963. Photograph processed September 1963. Formerly catalogued as B45.744, K.093. Notes written on the slide or index: Taq-i Bustan Boar Hunt.
Curator Notes
An obviously erroneous date of March 1967 has been crossed out and replaced by "May 1963," which could indicate that the written dates for the entire BG collection were made some time after 1967.
