Description

This stereoscope from the early 20th century was produced by the Keystone View Company, under the product line “Monarch.” The Keystone View Company, based in Meadville, Pennsylvania, also produced and distributed stereographic images. The design for this particular model was patented on April 12, 1904, according to the inscription on the wood underneath the metal eyepiece. This sterescope originally had fabric adhered to the eyepiece for the viewer’s comfort. This fabric has since been lost, but remnants of it and the glue used to attach the fabric remain on the metal’s surface.
