Description
Etching pressed onto paper with black ink. The two pieces of paper are bound in the center, and display a spread of two pages. On the left, is figure A, which depicts the interior of the mosque of Saint Sophia in Constantinople. In the center, bisecting the spread, two ovals labeled “Fig. A” and “Fig. B” give information of the two scenes. On the right, the etching shows the court of the emperor of China, which depicts an elaborate room full of people, statues, drapery and architectural features. Text appears at the top and bottom of each figure, and is within the two ovals that bisect the spread.
