Sticker on back of canvas: "Class 1"; lower left corner missing, but what remains possibly reads "69"

Sticker on back of frame: "FROST & REED" below which is the coat of arms of the United Kingdom; left of coat of arms, "BRISTOL, / CLARE STREET, / PICTURE FRAME MAKER[S]" with other text no longer readable; right of coat of arms, "CL[IF]FTON[,] / 47 Q[UE]EN'S ROAD," with other text no longer readable.

Description

The lower third of the painting follows a bridge extending over water, at the far end of which are two figures, turned toward one another. Rendered in greens and browns on either side of the scene are the largest trees (particularly the one on the right), therefore appearing the closest. A hazier, gray impression of trees is visible in the background, along with two buildings to the left, ensconced in the greenery. From this horizon emerge cumulus clouds followed by blue sky.
