Description

Trees on either side arc over the silhouette of a town at the center of the painting. Gray skies loom over the scene, a body of water on which a boat floats dividing the town from a rural path cutting diagonally across the lower right corner of the painting. Three figures are centered at the far side of this path, centered in the frame and cast in shadow.
