Description
The badge is a gold-rimmed, blue-and-white enameled, eight-pointed cross, each point being a gold ball tipped. Between each pair of arms is a crowned two-headed eagle of gold, bearing a cross against its breast, an oval shield with a white enamel cross against a red field. At the top of the badge is a hinged gold crown with a suspension ring.
The central oval medallion of the obverse side of the badge depicts St. Sava, crowned, holding the open scriptures in his right hand and a hand cross (?) in his left. The medallion has a white background and a rim of blue enamel bearing a Slavonic inscription in gold, the sense of which is that one gains everything through one’s own labors.
The central medallion on the reverse of the badge shows the date 1883 in gold against a white field. The medallion has an inner border with a gold wreath against a blue background and an outer scalloped border of gold.
