Description
004- A closer view of the Dome of the Rock. In structure the building resembles centrally planned buildings known as martyria of Late Antiquity. According to Oleg Grabar, the earliest standing building whose composition and impact are comparable to the Dome of the Rock is the Santa Constanza church. Another famous building that is of the same type is San Vitale in Ravenna.
