Description

This painting was first showcased in the artist's exhibit "A Story of Two and a Half Weeks" along with similar black and white paintings of nude figure. It depicts a naked figure bent over, baring its backside to the audience. It is constructed in a monochrome colorization with the painter's signature jagged, bold, and erratic brush strokes in an expressionist manner. There is a fantastical element to this painting. While the focus is on the figures rear, closer inspection reveals that the shoulders of the figure are abnormally thin and flat, presenting an overall fragile looking frame. Meanwhile, the figure's rear is disproportionately round and healthy-looking. The placement of the highlights suggest that there are multiple light sources, which is a characteristic present in many of the artist's works. (Nicole Wang '26)
