These documents convey information on the numbers, sizes, forms, conditions, dates (where available), and locations of settlements located during pedestrian reconnaissance pursued within the regions covered in the archive. The middle Ulua (or Central Santa Barbara) report was written in a narrative format. Summaries of work conducted in the Naco, middle Chamelecon, and lower Cacaulapa valleys appear as tables. In each case, sites were defined as locations that yielded evidence of human activity predating the modern era (roughly the last 100 years). Sites were given distinct designations when they were at least 100m apart or separated by a prominent topographic feature, such as a ravine or stream. Maps of settlements recorded during surveys can be found in the Drawings section of the archive.
