Abstract

View of the Tomb of Sitt Tunshuq on Aqabat al-Takiyya Street.

Description

A view of the Turbat (tomb) of Sitt Tunshuq al-Muzaffariyah, built in 1398 at the passing of Sitt Tunshuq, an influential Mamluk woman for whom this particular hill of the city is named. The tomb faces the slightly earlier Lady Tunshuq's Palace, which was later used by Khassaki Sultan, the wife of Suleyman the Magnificent, and was the Governor's house during Ottoman times.
