Description
A closer view of the central pointed arch of the iwan that serves as the entrance to the Muzaffarid madrasa (see B.43), separating the iwan and the sanctuary of the madrasa. In addition to the Arabic calligraphy lining the soffit, which is another excellent example of "banna'i" brickwork (see B.45), and the rich Arabesque motifs framing the arch, the complicated network of vaulting inside the madrasa and one of the muqarnas constructions inside are visible here as well. For more detail on the Muzaffarid madrasa in the Friday mosque, see B.43. -MA
