Description
Engraving of the north prospect of Ludlow Castle, resting atop a series of hills. Underneath, there is a map of the surrounding areas, labeled, "The Ichonography of Ludlow Castle," which details the mill just outside the town, the town walls, the outer wall gate, the interior of the town (including the stables and the bowling green), and the castle gate.
This is a page from antiquarian William Stukeley's (1687–1765) book Itinerarium Curiosum, Or, An Account of the Antiquitys and Remarkable Curiositys in Nature or Art, Observ'd in Travels thro' Great Brittan, either the 1724 or 1776 edition. In the 1776 edition, it appears on page 75.
