Charles Turner displays his night blooming cereus. Charles Turner was a member of the Mt.Vernon Colored Garden Club. Cereus plants were unusual in blooming only once a year, often for a single evening. Turner's bloomed on July 31, 1951 and August 1, 1951 when the photos were taken.
