Description

"Partner" is a marble bronze sculpture created by Wu Shao-Xiang in 1992, during the period when he emigrated to Austria. Sexuality was the major thematical subject in the early stage of his career. His art was once characterized by bold representation of heterosexual intercourse. This theme is conveyed implicitly by the title and subtle representation of intercourse in his work. The white and black marble looks like distorted and stretched symbol of Yin and Yang. Meanwhile, it looks like two partners having sex in wheelbarrow position. (Zhuocheng Jiang '26)
