Description

This "moon" series was created in 1992, during the period of the artist's exploration of modernist sculpture. They are all made up of crystalline Marble and share similar artistic components. The general feature is that they can all be broken down into two parts, a sleek and smooth part, as opposed to the rough, aggressive part. The sleek part is always inlaid in the rough part. The dynamics of two parts always congregate to the geometric center of the piece with a hole as a signal. The artist’s early works are mostly related to the abstract expression of sexuality. This series seems to be one of the cases, which makes a contrast and/or intimate relationship between two genders, via their skin, rough one vs. smooth one.
