Description

"Combination 结合" is one of the pieces of artist's exploration of modernist sculpture from mid-1980s. This marble sculpture, standing 130 cm tall, consists of two contrasting parts juxtaposed to each other. The left part is marked by its rough surface, skin-like texture and gourd-like shape, which resembles the other work of the artist, "meditation 静观" ("Meditation 静观" by Shao-Xiang WU 吴少湘). The right part,, is characterized by its smooth surface and organic curves, which can be found in the artist' "Window 窗户 series" ("Window No.2 &No.3 窗户 No.2 & No.3" by Shao-Xiang WU 吴少湘). Then, the title " Combination", may synthesize two artistic components seen in his previous works. (Zhuocheng Jiang'26)
