Description
"Apple" is an installation art created by the artist from 1988 to 1993, when he emigrated to Austria due to participating in the Tiananmen Square incident. This hollow apple is constructed with coins glued together. For the reason of choosing coins as the material, he intended to reveal the shunned discussion of money in the realm of western art and the post-modern society's contradiction between its gilded surface and hollow connotation. He did not mean to simply criticize money worship but delve into the innate power of money and how it as a instrument spreading the power to every corner of the society, For further information, please refer to https://jx.cnr.cn/jxzt/wsx/zx/20161104/t20161104_523243533.shtml.
