Abstract
The coroner is an elected or appointed position in America. The coroner has power over the death certificate, meaning they control what is put on it for cause and manner of death. However, since the position is elected, the requirements to be a coroner often do not include a medical degree. In this project I wish to look to what it means to be an expert, and if coroners would qualify as such even as non-medical personnel signing a medical and legal document.
