[fragment]

Tuesday Evening

I shall preserve all Covers to your letters, which I do not send, in order to lessen the weight in my franks. The other letters from Mr Hewitt are to Mrs Latouche, Bellevoir—[William] [Doiney] [Esquire], Somerset, Blackrock—Mrs Balfour, Dublin—Hon. And Reverend J. P. Hewitt, Grange, Armagh—Hon. And Reverend Robert Mande—James D. Latouche Esquire Dublin—Mr Pratt (who doubted, you know, the journey to Ireland) on the sight of the letters said “It will be worth while to go under such auspices.” Pray mention to Dr Macbride “Devout Meditations by the Hon. Charles Howe,” which Rivington has just published and are recommended in the primary Charge of the Bishop of Limerick to the perusal of his Clergy. I think Dr M. will consider Mr Howe, who was an Ambassador in the time of Charles the 2nd, entitled to an eminent place among Christian Laymen. The work is sold at 3. I have neither seen or heard anything of Mr Wheaton since Saturday. Mr Macaulay is anxious to see you after your return.
