1 5/16 x 3/4 in.
Bequest of David P. Harris ('46), 2020
This small cross shows, within a border, a Russian cross with the lance and sponge on the left and right sides respectively; the Slavic abbreviation for "King of Jews" appears over the cross; the letters IC and XC are to the left and right of the horizontal arms and, below these, the separated words for "Sun of God"; beneath the Russian cross is the skull representing Golgotha. The reverse side is covered with writing too worn to be interpreted. There is a suspension ring at the top of the piece.
Purchased from Iconostas, London, in 1992.
