Description

“The Proliferation of Thread Winding (1995) features a bed from which cascade balls of wound thread, made sinister by twenty thousands steel needles embedded into the mattress.” (Guest, Luise. (2016). Half the Sky. Dawes Point, NSW: Piper Press.) “The installation seemed like a metaphor of the male and female body: the implied tension of that metaphor was represented by intertwined white balls of yarn and cotton threads that flowed from the rice paper mattress down to the floor, and the suspended men’s trousers made of rice paper stuck with needles.” (Guo, Xiaoyan. (2013). “The Defiant Narratives of Lin Tianmiao.” Lin Tianmiao: bound unbound. Milan, Charta.) (Russ, Hannah '18)
